As part of the efforts undertaken by Al-Bureij Society for Community Rehabilitation, in its capacity as Chair of the Coordination Committee for Community Rehabilitation Centers serving persons with disabilities in the Gaza Strip, the Society coordinated with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) to provide medical diapers for the member organizations of the Committee.
Based on this coordination UNRWA provided each organization with the required quantities of medical diapers according to the number of beneficiaries and the sizes needed.
Al-Bureij Society in turn distributed the medical diapers to 300 beneficiaries from Al-Bureij Camp and surrounding areas, including 43 children with disabilities and 257 older persons and adults with disabilities.
The other five member organizations also received their required quantities of medical diapers and distributed them within their respective areas of intervention, as follows:
1. Jabalia Society for Community Rehabilitation: Distribution in North Gaza.
2. Palestinian Society for the Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities: Distribution in Gaza.
3. Social Training and Rehabilitation Association – Nuseirat: Distribution in Nuseirat.
4. Al-Bureij Society for Community Rehabilitation: Distribution in Al-Bureij.
5. Al-Maghazi Society for Community Rehabilitation: Distribution in Al-Maghazi.
6. Deir Al-Balah Society for the Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities: Distribution in Deir Al-Balah.
This joint coordination effort contributed to improving access to medical diapers for people most in need and supporting the continuity of essential services for persons with disabilities and older persons across different areas of the Gaza Strip.
